This opinion piece examines the “qualification paradox” facing migrant and refugee women in Australia, where high levels of education and professional experience do not translate into equal employment, pay or leadership opportunities. It highlights the structural barriers behind this underutilisation of talent and calls for reforms that better recognise global experience, expand sponsorship and create more meaningful pathways to economic participation and leadership.
