Event date: Thursday, April 30, 2026 07:30 AM

Article date: 24 April 2026

In a rapidly shifting global context shaped by conflict, displacement, and economic uncertainty, this session reframes settlement as critical gender equality infrastructure, a powerful but under-recognised driver of women’s economic security, safety, and leadership.

Bringing together global experts, policymakers, practitioners, and women with lived experience, this interactive session will explore how gender-responsive and intersectional settlement systems can unlock better outcomes across economies, communities, and peacebuilding efforts. Through a dynamic panel discussion and facilitated open conversation, participants will engage with real-world insights and solutions that:

  • Advance women’s economic participation and decent work
  • Strengthen prevention and responses to gender-based violence
  • Expand access to housing, justice, and social protection
  • Elevate the leadership of migrant, refugee, and diaspora women in shaping communities and contributing to peace across borders

Grounded in an intersectional lens, the session recognises the diverse realities of women across migration pathways, identities, and contexts—moving beyond vulnerability narratives to centre women as leaders, innovators, and agents of change.

Participants will leave with practical policy and investment insights, and a clearer understanding of how governments, donors, and institutions can embed settlement within broader gender equality, development, and peace agendas.
